The Office of International Services and Engagement (OISE) specializes in advising international students and scholars, helping them understand and maintain their immigration and visa status, planning orientations, workshops, and other culturally diverse events that help our students thrive while adjusting to American culture and the La Verne community.
Since the University resumed face-to-face and hybrid instruction in Spring 2022, international students must continue to maintain full-time status to fulfill the terms of their visa. Students in the U.S. with an active status I-20 should work with their academic advisors to make sure that their units are distributed over both sessions of the semester and in-person classes are preferred with some hybrid options.
Students on an Initial I-20 are allowed to enter the U.S. once again and can enter the country up to 30 days before their program start date. They too should make sure that their full-time units are distributed over both sessions of the semester and in-person/hybrid is preferable with just one online course if necessary. As per federal regulations, students traveling from abroad must have proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to travel and should make sure their vaccination is approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).
